Fox News personality Jesse Watters questioned the "emotional maturity" of women and said, "I hope there's not a female president in my lifetime" during an episode of his show.
The comments came following an exclusive interview with MS NOW in which Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi asserted that the American people have long been more prepared for a female president than Congress was for a female speaker, but that she didn’t believe that at 86 years old, it would happen in her lifetime.
“Well, Nancy says there will not be a female president in her lifetime, and I say thank god,” Watters said in response on the Wednesday, April 1, episode of The Five. “I hope there is not a female president in my lifetime.”
Jesse Watters made the harsh comment on his show.
When the show’s lone liberal, Jessica Tarlov, asked why not, Watters started in on a misogynistic rant that was interrupted by co-host Greg Gutfeld.
“You know what many people are saying, Jessica? Many people are saying do women have the –,” Watters began before Gutfeld interjected.
“You are just jumping off a cliff just because you're bored,” Gutfeld said.
“...emotional maturity to be president?” Watters interrupted to finish his original sentence.

Jesse Watters doesn't want a female in office.
Gutfeld doubled down on his boredom theory, to which Watters replied, “Many people are saying, do they have the personal contacts in the business world to manage the economy? Many people are saying, Greg, do women have the respect of the generals?"
When asked who said that, Watters answered, “Many people are saying women don't have the sense of humor to be president. I've heard that from a lot of people. None of those things, I believe.”
Then he went in for a dig at Democratic presidential frontrunner and California Gov. Gavin Newsom, snarking, “But I believe Gavin Newsom could be the first woman president. Because when I hear him talk, he sounds like a woman. The kind of emotional instability, you don't know whether he's having a midlife crisis, an identity crisis, a crisis of confidence.”

Many people called out Jesse Watters' remarks.
Social media had a field day with Watters’ remarks, calling him various expletives and a “neanderthal,” “chauvinist,” “misogynist,” “sexist, racist, smug,” with another person adding that “Watters is everything that's wrong with Fox News all rolled into one.”
“You know what women also haven’t been? Mass shooters or leaders starting wars they can’t finish. What’s more surprising is that there’s even a woman in your life,” snapped another.

Jesse Watters previously criticized Kamala Harris.
Watters has a long history of making remarks characterized as misogynistic or sexist by critics, colleagues and advocacy groups. His comments frequently target high-profile female politicians, journalists and women's roles in society.
Watters claimed in 2024 that then presidential candidate and Vice President Kamala Harris would be "paralyzed" in the Situation Room while military generals "have their way with her." He later claimed this was "figurative" and not sexual. He has also attributed her political challenges to a "typical female problem," suggesting media coverage focuses too much on her "feelings."
He also suggested New York Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was not "ripe" or "rational" enough for the presidency because she was not yet married with children. He also mocked her for reporting sexual harassment, replaying footage of the incident multiple times on his show.
In 2019, he asserted that female journalists sleep with their sources to get stories "all the time," a claim that drew sharp rebukes from media advocacy groups.
