John Stamos Felt 'Emasculated' in 'Doomed' Marriage to Rebecca Romijn: 'She Outgrew Me'
John Stamos is continuing to get candid about how deeply his relationship with Rebecca Romijn affected him.
During the Full House star's Tuesday, October 24, appearance on The Howard Stern Show to promote his new memoir, If You Would Have Told Me, Stamos, 60, owned up to his part in the downfall of his first marriage to the X-Men actress, 50.
While the pair were a Hollywood power couple at the time, the You actor admitted his career began to dwindle as his then-wife's started to take off, leaving him feeling "emasculated" in their union.
"I loved her and I thought she was super talented. So I was happy to do that," he told Howard Stern of helping Romijn achieve success. "But I forgot about my own stuff. She was taking off and I just wasn't paying attention to mine. And it wasn't her fault."
"I mean, you know, you just get wrapped up in these things. I said, 'You know what? I've had enough fame, I'm okay. Let's put the spotlight on her.' And I loved watching it. I think that she outgrew me," he continued.
However, Stamos did not put the blame on the blonde beauty for his lack of motivation. The hunky star noted he was only giving "50, 60 percent" of his effort thinking, "'Well, my 50 percent is better than you know 99 percent of the people out there. I don't have to give it all.' I didn't work on anything. I didn't work as hard as I should at anything."

When the shock jock questioned Stamos on whether or not their union had always been "doomed," the Scream Queens star agreed and made it clear that he did not believe that their love could have ever survived even if he did work harder for his own benefit.
Stamos and Romijn were married in September 1998 until the former Glee star filed for divorce in August 2004. The split was finalized the following year.

As OK! previously reported, Stamos spilled his heart out in his new tell-all about his feelings toward the Femme Fatale actress at the end of their relationship. "My first marriage was shattering to me. I was shattered for way too long, too," he wrote.
"I mean, a year, okay, good. But it went on [for] years and years," he explained of his long-harbored resentment. "In my mind back then, she was the Devil, and I just hated her. I couldn't believe how much I hated her, and it ruined my life."
