Actor Johnny Depp was all smiles at the Barcelona-Sant Jordi International Film Festival (BCN Film Fest) in Spain — despite looking like anything but a Hollywood star.
The Pirates of the Caribbean actor, 57, posed for the cameras while leaving a press conference for his film Minamata, in which he plays an American photojournalist.
His upcoming film is the last project he worked on that is currently scheduled for release following his fall from grace after being labeled a "wife beater" by The Sun.
Depp's future career in Hollywood remains up in the air, especially after he lost his 2018 libel lawsuit against the publisher of The Sun — which published an article detailing multiple accusations of domestic violence by ex-wife Amber Heard.
Last November, the court ruled that the allegations against Depp, who was accused of attacking Heard, were “substantially true." Depp demanded a full re-trial, requesting he be allowed to introduce new evidence, which he claimed would hurt Heard's credibility.
However, last month the British Court of Appeals rejected his attempt to appeal the lower court's ruling that he assaulted Heard.
In 2019, Depp also filed a defamation lawsuit against Heard, seeking $50 million in damages, accusing her of tarnishing his reputation in her Washington Post op-ed titled: "I spoke up against sexual violence — and faced our culture’s wrath. That has to change."
Depp's outing on Friday, April 16, marked his first public appearance since his request was denied. And while he rocked his typical eccentric style — straying far away from his dashing movie star looks — he put on a smile for the cameras and fans following his troubling year.

Depp wore a graphic t-shirt under a polka-dot button down shirt and a faded dark grey jacket.
He accessorized his questionable look with an oversized grey newsboy cap, blue shades, several scarves, rings and necklaces of all lengths.
And as if he didn't have enough scarves on, Depp wrapped one more around his hand and another around one of his belt loops.
