West is "super annoyed that the story is being constantly presented as her divorcing him," a source said.
"Actually it was him saying for a year that they have nothing in common except the kids and he wanted out," the insider explained, adding that the SKIMS founder was the one who "pulled all the stops to try to save the marriage."
In the end, the 43-year-old let Kardashian "file first in order to give her dignity," the insider claimed.
West filed his response to Kardashian's papers on April 9 after the 40-year-old filed for divorce in February. The Yeezy founder cited "irreconcilable differences." West also reportedly agreed that the former flames will not pay each other spousal support and will cover their own legal fees.
OK! also learned that West asked for joint physical and legal custody of their four children and asked that their shared and separate property be split "according to proof at time of trial or settlement."
The former couple is not in communication, as previously reported by OK!. West currently resides in Wyoming while Kardashian is living in California.
While many factors contributed to the decline of the power couple, the final straw was Kardashian’s friendship with Van Jones, according to an OK! insider. "There is nothing romantic going on between Kim and Van, but there is no denying that she admires him, and he admires her," the insider previously explained.
West's insecurities also played a major part. "Kanye cannot stand the fact that Kim's life no longer revolves around him," the source added. "Her devotion to the kids is her number one priority, followed by criminal justice reform. Kanye feels like he has been pushed down her priority list and isn't happy about it," the source concluded.
Page Six was the first to report that West is "annoyed" that fans think Kardashian initiated the divorce.
