Ever since Kanye West touched down last week at Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles via his private jet from Wyoming — where he had been residing as his relationship with Kim Kardashian continues to make headlines — he has had zero contact with his wife, OK! has learned.
"Kanye did not return to the family home when he arrived in L.A. Instead he has been staying at a hotel and a private house," a source exclusively tells OK!. "He basically returned to get his stuff, meet with lawyers and look for a new home for him and his children.
"Kanye has a lot of stuff, including a 500-pair sneaker collection, however what he wanted the most were his awards and a few personal items that belonged to his mom," the insider adds.
"Kanye deeply cares about awards, that's why he gets so upset when he doesn't win," adds a pal. "For someone so confident, it's surprising how much validation he needs. Kayne can buy new clothes and sneakers, but he can't buy new awards."
It should be noted that the "Heartless" rapper has put his trophies to (good?) use, putting his Grammy Award in the toilet and recording himself urinating on it last year for attention.
OK! recently learned that West, 43, is looking to move back to California to be closer to children North, 7, Saint, 5, Chicago, 2, and Psalm, 19 months. It is unclear if West had a chance to see his kids since returning to L.A., as Kardashian "coincidentally" went on a trip to Turks and Caicos with her family.
A source told E! that the KKW beauty founder "is trying to stay strong and move on with her life," and it looks like she's doing just that.
The mother-of-four has posted multiple times to Instagram, showing off the adorable children and her infamous hourglass figure while on their getaway. The Keeping Up With The Kardashians family trip comes amid the news that the former power couple "are completely done and no longer speaking."
Despite not going public with their reported divorce just yet, their separation is "completely official in [Kardashian's] mind." The source told the outlet that Kardashian, 40, is just "working out the logistics of announcing the divorce." However, "Kanye is also completely done with the marriage" and wants things to be over and done with.
"He will file before she's ready if he has to," the insider added. "He wants the divorce just as much as Kim does."
As OK! previously reported, Kardashian and West are believed to have stopped marriage counseling last month and have been living separate lives for a while now. Their split will reportedly play out on the final season of KUWTK, which will premiere March 18 on E!.
