Former prosecutor Nancy Grace said that the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today show host Savannah Guthrie, triggered visceral memories of the 1979 murder of her fiancé, Keith Griffin.

The podcast host explained that watching Savannah express guilt and apologize to her mother during her Today show interview took her "right back to that moment" of raw, wordless grief following her fiancé's death.

The true crime podcaster noted how Savannah apologized to her mother during an interview with Hoda Kotb and said it reminded her of her own "horrible moments" after her fiancé was killed, where she felt a similar sense of responsibility and overwhelming despair.

“When Savannah was talking — just her face — and she started talking to her mother, when she felt like it was her fault,” the legal guru, 66, said on Tuesday, March 31, episode of Fox News’ “Hang Out With Sean Hannity” podcast.

“She said, ‘Oh, Mommy, Mommy, I’m sorry. I am sorry.’ It took me right back to that moment — those horrible moments — when I was lying there in the dark, feeling like howling, because there just were no words — nothing,” she said.

Nancy’s case remains unresolved with no known motive or "proof of life," echoing the senselessness the Georgia native felt when her fiancé was murdered for "nothing.”

The blonde beauty used her own experience to defend the Guthrie family against critics who questioned their handling of the case, stating there is "no script" for how families should react to such trauma.

“I noticed a lot of people attacking Savannah. ‘Why didn’t you pay the ransom? Why didn’t you pay sooner? Why didn’t you this, that?’” she said. “There’s no script for what you’re supposed to do. I think Savannah and her brother and sister, Annie and Camron, did everything they were physically able to do at that moment.”

Nancy Grace spoke about the ransom note.

The former HLN host said she doesn’t believe that ransom was a motive, despite some outside observers’ theories.

“I knew at the beginning something was off, in that the ransom was not requested immediately,” she explained. “You take somebody, you want to feed them for a week, and then ask for the money? No. You want the money, then you want it to be over with — you want to get the h--- out of town.”

Nancy’s fiancé was 23 years old when he was shot five times by a disgruntled former coworker outside a convenience store in Georgia. The tragedy transformed the star from an English major into a lifelong advocate for crime victims and a prosecutor.

“When my fiancé was murdered, I didn’t even want to say words. I felt like going out in the dark, in the woods, and just howling like an animal,” shetold host Sean Hannity. “I didn’t have words to say. It was so awful — not just losing him, but to a violent crime. Stupid, senseless — for what? For nothing!”

Nancy was reported missing from her home in Tucson, Ariz., on January 31. Her family has publicly pleaded for information as a $1 million reward remains available.
