Nancy Mace Says Supporters of Lindsay Clancy Wouldn't Back Her If She Was Black Amid Deadlocked Murder Trial

United States Representative Nancy Mace believes that Lindsay Clancy would not get as much support as she is getting if she were Black.

During a recent interview with TMZ, the congresswoman said, “Oh, nobody would be supporting her if she were Black. These liberal white women aren't gonna support a Black woman who murdered kids.”

When the reporter asked her, “Why wouldn't liberal white women support a Black woman in this exact situation?”

Mace replied, “I think that the left is inherently racist. That's what I think.”

When pressed on her remark with the question, “So right-wing women would feel differently?”

She seemed to stumble over her words before finally settling on, “I don't think that right-wing women are racist. I just don't see…”

As an example, she brought up a case in New York, where a mother allegedly killed her kids and “got away with it.” However, there wasn't a “pink mob” outside the court supporting her through it all, per Mace.

“There was a woman who murdered kids in New York; they didn't do the same thing for her. She was Black. So, where was this liberal white woman mob for her? They weren't anywhere near her,” she insisted.

Clancy, 36, a former labor and delivery nurse, strangled her three children, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3 and 8-month-old Callan, in her Massachusetts home in January 2023. She then slit her own wrists and neck and jumped from the second-floor window to take her own life.

Although she confessed to the crimes, she opted for an insanity plea on account of allegedly suffering from severe postpartum psychosis at the time. She is currently on trial while the jury decides whether the case should be considered murder or manslaughter. However, the trial has been deadlocked twice already, with the jury reportedly failing to reach a verdict.

Per the politician, Clancy could very well get out of legal punishment due to the outpouring of support from who she calls the “pink mob.”

“She’s gonna walk free because of this pink mob,” she said.

“Basically, they are just, you know, said, ‘F you’ to whatever,” she continued before adding, “I think it says a lot about our culture and it's a sad state for where we are.”

She also stated that no matter what, Clancy should take full accountability for her crimes regardless of her mental state at the time.

“We can, I think, have a discussion about mental health, but that doesn't excuse murder,” she noted.

“I mean, she murdered her children and look, I mean, if you murder someone out of cold blood like that? Yeah, you're crazy, you're insane, you should…you're mental,” she continued.

“But that doesn't mean everybody who's insane who murder should walk free,” she pointed out.
