This poignant message encapsulates the essence of grief associated with losing a close friend.
Niall Horan said the lyrics were inspired by the grief he experienced after Liam Payne died in October 2024 at the age of 31.
Tragically, Payne passed away in October 2024 at age 31 after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Horan expressed his feelings in an Instagram statement, describing the loss as “heartbreaking” and stating that it “just doesn’t feel real.”
He recalled Payne’s vibrant energy and infectious passion for life, highlighting the joy he brought to those around him.

“Liam had an energy for life and a passion for work that was infectious,” Horan wrote, reminiscing about the special bond they shared. “The bond and friendship we had doesn’t happen often in a lifetime.”
