The comedian shared a glimpse of their recent conversations via Instagram on Thursday, August 27, showing Chelsea checking in with her mom while discussing everyday interests, including nails and books.
Rosie also paired the messages with a throwback photo of them smiling and embracing.

Rosie O'Donnell and Chelsea O'Donnell's relationship showed signs of healing.
Chelsea is updating her mom on her plans and settling back into everyday routines.
"Thank you mom I got my music back today," Chelsea wrote.
"How are you? I’m trying to get ahold of the social worker to let her know the plans for when I get out, Hannah texted her for me," Chelsea added.
"Ok great," Rosie responded.
"Got my nails done — no more gel for me my nails are ruined. Are [you] reading a good book?" Rosie said.
Chelsea revealed that she was reading The Legacy book series and was enjoying it.
"And yeah, I havnt [sic] painted my nails in years but I remember that stuff breaking my nails," Chelsea said.
Rosie O’Donnell Sees Progress During Prison Visit With Daughter
Rosie O'Donnell reflected on her daughter's difficult legal journey.
Per TMZ, Rosie recently visited Chelsea in prison.
That gave Rosie a chance to see how Chelsea was doing as she adjusted to life behind bars. Rosie said sobriety appeared to be having a positive effect on her daughter, who seemed clearer-headed and more focused on what comes next.
Chelsea is currently serving time after her probation was revoked over an alleged violation involving a sexual assault accusation. She denied assaulting the man, maintaining that the encounter was consensual.
According to reports, Chelsea was accused of touching the man's g------- without permission while she was driving. Her probation was subsequently revoked, leading to her incarceration.

Chelsea O'Donnell's Prison Situation Comes Into Focus
Rosie O’Donnell’s daughter, Chelsea O’Donnell, awaited her transfer to state prison.
Per TMZ, Chelsea's circumstances have also previously raised concerns for Rosie, particularly over her daughter's safety while she spends her time in jail.
She is being held in the general population at a Wisconsin jail, where inmates have access to a shared dayroom, meals, games, television, phones, messaging services, and video visits. Visitors are also permitted.
Chelsea's time at the jail is also expected to be temporary as she awaits a transfer to state prison.
Per TMZ, Chelsea’s legal troubles followed several drug-related arrests. She received six years of probation, but prosecutors later accused her of violating the terms.

Rosie O’Donnell shared an emotional message about daughter Chelsea O’Donnell’s struggles.
In an October 29, 2025 Instagram post, Rosie shared her feelings about the difficult road ahead.
"My child chelsea belle - before addiction took over her life - i loved her then i love her now as she faces a scary future- prayers welcomed," Rosie wrote in the caption.
