Tiger Woods Sparks Concern From Fans as He Makes Rare Video Appearance Honoring Longtime Golf Pal: 'He Looks Like a Shell of His Former Self'

Tiger Woods made a rare video appearance, weeks before he is set to show face in court for his March DUI, sparking fan concern.

Woods delivered a heartfelt message to his longtime friend and golfer Notah Begay for the Payne Stewart Award ceremony on August 25, reminiscing on the "unbelievable ride" of their friendship.

"You first came into my life when I was 11 years old and I was in the Junior World and you came over and watch me play," he recalled. "And our friendship started there and has never ended."

Begay is a four-time PGA Tour winner and the founder of the NB3 Foundation, which focuses on advancing the health of Native American communities.

The veteran golfer was handed the award for exemplifying the philanthropic characteristics of 11-time PGA Tour winner William Payne Stewart.

"To see what you've done off the course and for your local Native American communities, you've helped over 80,000 youths and their families," Woods gushed. "More people need to know what you've done and how you've served... you've given back to the tribal lands and what you have done, because there are so many people out there who are struggling in those communities."

Woods and Begay played alongside one another in the 2000 President's Cup, which the United States won.

"Thank you for coming to see me play, thank you for getting our friendship started, and I love you dude," Woods concluded.

The 50-year-old is expected to make his first court appearance on September 8 after being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Jupiter Island, Fla., seven months prior.

Fans shared their thoughts on the rare glimpse at Woods following his arrest and subsequent stint at a Swiss rehab center.

"Tiger looks a shell of his former self, sadly," one person wrote on X.

"My gosh, this guy looks like a corpse. Hope all the b------- was worth it, Tiger," another added.

"Geez, Tiger doesn’t look so good," a fourth chimed in, with a fifth adding, "Looking sober but d--- he’s aging."

The golf star rolled his Land Rover on March 27 before pleading not guilty to charges of driving under the influence with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test.

Woods tested at 0.00 percent blood alcohol content on two breathalyzer tests, but refused a post-arrest urine test. He was also found with painkillers in his pocket, police said.

He has since made few public appearances and stepped back from competition. His last major tournament was the 2024 British Open.
