Dancing with the Stars front runner Nicole Scherzinger danced to Prince’s song “Kiss” on the show Monday night. And after she earned a perfect 30 for the sizzling cha cha cha with partner Derek Hough, the Pussycat Dolls singer revealed to reporters that the rock star told her to do DWTS!

“He encouraged me to come on the show,” Nicole said. “He’s an amazing influence and inspiration in my life and I know everybody and anybody who’s an artist in their lives thinks so as well. I want to thank Prince for allowing us to perform his song ‘Kiss.’ “ she said, adding that the rock star had to give his clearance. “I hope I made him proud.”

Nicole, who has still been recording her own music even as she does grueling DWTS rehearsals, also said she has a solo single coming out called “Nobody Can Change Me.” “It’s an empowering song for anybody who needs strength and I’m rocking out in there too,” she said.

But that doesn’t mean she’s abandoned the hitmaker Pussycat Dolls. “A lot of the girls have left the group but I’m still 100 percent committed to the Pussycat Dolls. I’m still doing my thing. But right now I’m working on my own music.”
