Alec Baldwin Shares 'Rust' Crew Members' Statement Slamming Claims Of 'Chaotic, Dangerous' & 'Exploitative' Workplace On Set
Alec Baldwin is continuing to defend himself regarding the fatal Rust set shooting.
Only days after he sat down for his first interview since director of photography Halyna Hutchins was killed and director Joel Souza was injured on the New Mexico set, the 30 Rock alum shared a statement from the Rust crew.
As OK! reported, after news of the tragic set shooting made headlines, several crew members dubbed the film's set "chaotic" and "unsafe." At the time, Baldwin shared a previous statement by a crew member, who slammed the rumors, writing: "The story being spun of us being overworked and surrounded by unsafe, chaotic conditions is bulls**t.”
Baldwin has since taken to Instagram once again on Thursday, December 9, to share a statement on behalf of "some of the crew of RUST," he captioned the post.
"To Whom It May Concern," the note started off. "This letter is written on behalf of the cast and crew of the film production, Rust. It has not been sanctioned or influenced in any way by the producers."
"We, the undersigned, believe the public narrative surrounding our workplace tragedy to be inadequate and wish to express a more accurate account of our experience," the statement continued, before the crew acknowledged the loss of their coworker.
"We are hurting from the loss of our friend and colleague, Halyna Hutchins. She was, in many ways, at the heart of our production, and losing her hurt every single one of us," the statement read. "We are hurting from the loss of our togetherness, our spirit, and the loss of our labor. We are hurting for our friends that have been targeted by the public as they themselves grieve."

While the statement acknowledged it is an unfortunate given in the film industry to work on "unprofessional or hectic productions to gain experience and credits," the Rust staffers declared: "Rust was not one of them."
"Rust was professional," the statement read, before the crew members acknowledged: "no set is perfect," and Rust had "areas that were more challenging."
After backing unions fighting for "better working conditions across our industry," the crew members emphasized: "we do not feel that this set was a representation of the kind of conditions our unions are fighting against."
"The descriptions of Rust as a chaotic, dangerous, and exploitative workplace are false and distract from what matters the most: the memory of Halyna Hutchins, and the need to find modern alternatives to outdated industry firearm and safety practices," the statement insisted.
Pointing out a few crew members did "quit prior to the accident," the statement maintained the remaining workers never felt the "need to protest or quit," because they "were enjoying our workplace."
The investigation into the horrifying incident is still underway, with Baldwin, rookie head armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed and Assistant Director David Halls as the focus of the probe.
During Baldwin's Thursday, December 2, sit down with George Stephanopoulos, the Boss Baby star declared: "Someone is responsible for what happened and I can't say who that is, but I know it's not me."
