Britney Spears' Dad Sent Her to Rehab in 2014 and 2019 Over 'Energy Supplements'
Though Britney Spears seemed to be back on top when she began her Las Vegas residency in 2013, her father, Jamie Spears, forced her to go to rehab one year later.
In the singer's memoir, The Woman in Me, she detailed how the patriarch became concerned when she started taking "energy supplements" to help her power through her shows.
The blonde beauty, 41, was introduced to the supplements by her boyfriend at the time, Charlie Ebersol.
"Charlie worked out every day, taking pre-workout supplements and a whole bunch of vitamins. He shared his nutrition research with me and started giving me energy supplements," she recalled.
"My father didn’t like that. He knew what I ate; he even knew when I would go to the bathroom," the mom-of-two confessed. "So when I started taking energy supplements, he saw that I had more energy onstage and that I was in better shape than I had been."
While the "Toxic" crooner felt the supplements were a "good thing" and didn't see the harm since they weren't prescription pills, Jamie, 71, thought otherwise, "so he told me I had to get off them, and he sent me to rehab."
The singer was "scared" to be in the facility with no one she knew, adding that many of the other patients were serious drug users.
It's unclear how long Britney stayed at the facility, but a news outlet noted their was a break in her residency from November 9 to December 26 that same year.
"When I got out, I started doing shows again in Vegas like nothing had happened," she wrote. "Part of that was because my father told me I had to get back out there, and part of it was because I was still so nice, so eager to please, so desperate to do the right thing and be a good girl."

In 2019, Jamie was outraged to find energy supplements in her possession, so he once again sent her to rehab.
"They forced me to go," she claimed. "They had my back against a wall and I had no choice. … They kept me locked up against my will for months."
The silver lining of the situation is that her last rehab stint was what pushed her over the edge and prompted her to try and get out of the conservatorship.
"If you stood up for me when I couldn’t stand up for myself, from the bottom of my heart, thank you," she gushed to her supporters.

Jamie was his daughter's conservator from 2008 to 2021. The legal situation began after Britney's infamous 2007 meltdown, in which she shaved her head and attacked a photographer's car with an umbrella.
In her book, the superstar explained that the moment stemmed from a buildup of emotions, as she felt "out of my mind with grief" due to postpartum depression, the death of her aunt and being separated from her two sons.
