President Donald Trump tried to talk economics in Las Vegas, but the internet had other things on its mind.
During an August 5 appearance at Red Rock Casino, the president promoted his administration’s economic agenda, including tax breaks on tipped income, lower prescription drug prices and “Trump accounts.”
Online, though, viewers quickly zeroed in on what appeared to be a fuller, shinier version of Trump’s signature blond hairstyle.

Donald Trump’s hair later appeared darker before returning to a familiar style.
Journalist Aaron Rupar posted on X, “Trump's hair, uh, has a lot more volume than normal.”
He followed with the question many social media users were already batting around: “Is Trump rocking a wig, or what the h--- is going on here?”
The speculation continued over the following days. Trump’s hair appeared similarly voluminous a day later, then seemed darker by Friday. By Monday, during an Oval Office event tied to an executive order on childhood vaccines, he appeared to have returned to a more familiar version of his longtime style.

His longtime hairstyle remained a recognizable part of his public image.
Trump’s hair has been part of his public image for decades, and he has acknowledged the attention.
“I try like h--- to hide that bald spot, folks. I work hard at it,” he said at the Conservative Political Action Conference in 2018.
That same year, Trump’s physician disclosed that he took medication for male-pattern baldness. During his first term, medical reports listed the hair-loss drug Propecia, though it has not appeared in publicly released records since his January 2025 inauguration.
After Trump’s June medical report, the White House said the document “reflects all medications deemed clinically relevant to disclose at this time.”
“No additional undisclosed conditions or procedures materially affecting his health status were omitted from this report,” the White House said.

Books and firsthand accounts detailed the elaborate styling behind Donald Trump’s signature look.
Trump’s hair has also been dissected in books by people who have covered or worked around him.
In Fire and Fury, Trump biographer Michael Wolff wrote that Ivanka Trump had described an elaborate styling process involving hair drawn from the sides and front, swept back and held with hairspray.
Former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham wrote in I’ll Take Your Questions Now that Trump sometimes trimmed his own hair with “a huge pair of scissors that could probably cut a ribbon at an opening of one of his properties.”
New York Times reporters Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan wrote in Regime Change that longtime aide Walt Nauta carried scissors so Trump could snip hair when it grew too long near his collar.
