Donald Trump Mocked After Mixing Up World Leaders: 'This Is Just Embarrassing'
Donald Trump faced backlash on social media after mixing up the prime minister of Hungary and the president of Turkey while speaking at a New Hampshire rally.
"The whole world is exploding. You know I was very honored — Victor Orbán, did anyone ever hear of him?" Trump asked his crowd of supporters earlier this week. "He's probably one of the strongest leaders anywhere in the world. Right? He's the leader of Turkey."
The embattled former POTUS also claimed Orbán has a "front" with Russia during the mix-up.
Later in the speech, Trump appeared to realize his mistake and stated that Orbán was the "head of Hungary," going on to praise him, saying that he "runs it properly, with crime and everything else."
Alexander Vindman — a military veteran and former White House official who testified in an impeachment inquiry against Trump — shared the clip on X, formerly known as Twitter, calling out the ex-prez for the embarrassing mistake.

"The leader of Hungary is Viktor Orbán… Turkey is Recep Erdoğan. Both strongmen worked with the Pres Trump," Vindman posted on Monday, October 23.
"Trump spoke to each a dozen times," he continued. "That @realDonaldTrump couldn’t remember who leads which country or didn’t care to know is disturbing. Time for a mental acuity check."
Other Trump critics rushed to the comments section to slam the 77-year-old for the awkward slip-up.
"You didn’t hear? They decided to switch which countries they lead," one user wrote, while another quipped, "I can see it now. Trump will make Orban & Erdogan switch countries because, you know, Trump's NEVER wrong."
"Does he know people can hear him?" a third person asked. "Seriously, this is just embarrassing. Trump is a mess."

This isn't the first time Trump has made outright incorrect or otherwise awkward statements throughout his 2024 presidential campaign. As OK! previously reported, the controversial businessman perplexed his supporters and critics alike when he appeared to claim that Republicans eat their children.
"Remember, Republicans eat their young. They really do," he said at the time. "They eat their young. Terrible statement. But it’s true."
It was later speculated that he may have misread the teleprompter which could have said "eat their own," not "eat their young."
