'A Very Nasty Joke': 'Jeopardy!' Viewers Distraught After Mayim Bialik Appears in New Promotional Ads
Mayim Bialik may be back on Jeopardy! — and fans aren't happy!
In a new promotional video shared on the show's YouTube and TikTok page, the Big Bang Theory star was heavily featured after not being on the program since the writers' strike began in May. However, viewers were less than thrilled that Bialik seemed to be back in the fold.
"Oh no not her again," one person commented below an Instagram ad that featured the actress for the show's "13 Nights of Jeoparween" episodes.
"Oh h--- NO!!!!!! AWFUL AWFUL!!! Tell me this is a very nasty joke," a second chimed in.
"Mayim hosting truly IS scary," another chimed in, while a fourth added, "Mayim? Thanks for the warning," and a fifth said, "Please. No to Mayim."
While the Blossom star hasn't appeared on the program since the spring, Ken Jennings took over hosting duties while the show worked around the strike.
When Bialik was asked about her absence from the competition series, she made it clear it was all about not crossing the picket line. "There's a lot of complexity to this, but my general statement is always that I come from a union family. My grandparents were immigrants who worked in sweatshops, and my parents were public school teachers," she explained to Vanity Fair at the time.

"While it's not for me to personally judge anyone else's decision, for me, I am a union supporter – pretty much all unions and what they fight for. I believe in that system even if it's not perfect. I believe in getting educated about why people strike and what they're striking for," she added.
As OK! previously reported, behind the scenes, the former child star had been gunning to nab the full-time spot despite fans being outwardly negative towards her. "Mayim's determined to get the prime-time show all to herself and feels she's better qualified than Ken ever was," an insider spilled of her goals before the strike.
The insider added that when she hosted the first season of Celebrity Jeopardy, she got great ratings, so she's using that to her advantage.
"Mayim's kissing up to bosses and even the lowliest production assistants to win favor. She has a compliment for everyone these days," the source said. "She's also doing other things, like changing up her hairdo and adding brighter, peppier wardrobes. It's paying off because her co-workers are liking her better. She just has to win over Ken's fans, but they're a tough bunch."
