Newly surfaced C-SPAN and Senate floor videos from June 4 have ignited intense scrutiny over Sen. Mitch McConnell’s health, showing him sitting nearly motionless for hours and appearing highly confused just 10 days before his June 14 hospitalization.
The videos, which captured scenes from an arduous 18- to 20-hour Senate "vote-a-rama" on a $70 billion Republican reconciliation bill, highlight several moments of concern.
C-SPAN footage shows the 84-year-old lawmaker sitting, frozen and almost entirely uncommunicative, for much of the all-night session. He remained seated for nearly six hours straight while an aide frequently adjusted his wheelchair.
Mitch McConnell Seemed Frozen in New Video

Mitch McConnell was found unconscious in his home on June 14.
The footage shows McConnell receiving explicit physical cues from colleagues and staff to cast his votes. In one instance, a Senate clerk made a hand gesture below the desk, which McConnell immediately mirrored to change his vote from "yea" to "nay.”
In another, Sen. Bernie Moreno gave McConnell a physical thumbs-down to prompt his vote.
Days later, on June 14, McConnell was found unconscious after a fall at his Washington, D.C. home. Eyewitness video published by CNN captured emergency services loading him onto a stretcher into an ambulance.

McConnell has remained completely absent from the Senate floor.
According to a cryptic statement put out by the ailing senator, he claimed to have suffered from mild pneumonia and was in recovery. On August 6, his office announced his discharge from a rehabilitation center to continue physical therapy at home.
A "proof of life" still photograph was released alongside his wife, Elaine Chao, though no video or audio accompanied it, prompting many to demand proof that the senator is actually still alive.
McConnell has remained completely absent from the Senate floor. His office strictly guards his medical diagnosis, stating only that he did not experience a stroke, heart attack, or concussion.

Mitch McConnell Has Only Been Seen in Photos

The political guru hasn't released a video following the incident.
While the senator was allegedly released from rehab and is said to be recovering at home, he has yet to be seen in any video footage and a subsequent photo released continued to fuel suspicion.
"I was discharged from the rehabilitation center to continue my recovery at home. Elaine and I are grateful for the many well wishes and support from friends, colleagues, and Kentuckians, and for the attentive care I've received from excellent doctors, nurses, therapists, and hospital staff,” he allegedly said in a statement in early August.
The release of the C-SPAN footage has significantly amplified ongoing demands for transparency regarding his fitness to serve.

Mitch McConnell is being urged to return to work.
Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear issued an ultimatum to McConnell, publicly calling on him via The Hill to deliver a verbal address demonstrating his capacity or to resign.
Beshear has noted that McConnell's team has "heard absolutely nothing back" from his requests.
Meanwhile, Senate Republicans maintain public optimism, claiming McConnell is making progress and will return to finish his term, which concludes in January.
