Two people have died in Pennsylvania from measles this year.
Per the outlet, 28 counties across Pennsylvania alone have reported at least 393 cases of measles this year. National statistics, on the other hand, show 2777 confirmed cases in the entire country, a record high in 35 years.
The two deaths marked the first measles-related fatalities in the country this year, while it had been more than three decades in Pennsylvania since someone passed away from the disease.
Maryland Senator Angela Alsobrooks took to X to slam the Health Secretary for his lack of initiatives and fear-mongering about vaccines in the country for the past few years after news broke of the deaths on Tuesday, August 25.

RFK Jr.'s rhetorics on vaccines reportedly caused conflict among citizens about getting vaccinated.
“RFK Jr.’s lies and conspiracy theories are making Marylanders sick,” she wrote.
“RFK Jr. must resign or be fired. Vaccines are safe and effective. Listen to your pediatrician,” the Demonstration party member added.
Shaughnessy Naughton, president of the pro-science organizing group 314 Action, also took the opportunity to call out Kennedy Jr., saying, “Measles is officially out of control. How many more people need to die before there is a nationwide call for RFK Jr. to resign?”
“His anti-science, anti-vaccine policies are killing people and infecting a generation of Americans with dangerous vaccine skepticism that will take years to recover from,” she added.

Raphael Warnock said RFK Jr. is 'a hazard' Americans' health.
While the outrage among Americans has been simmering after reports of the two measles-related deaths spread, the opposition has been vocal about their stance on RFK Jr. being unfit to serve as the Health Secretary for a while.
“There is one effective way to reduce the spread and severity of measles: vaccination. And RFK Jr. has undermined it at every turn,” Georgia Senator Raphael Warnock posted on X last month.
“He is a hazard to our health and must resign,” he added.
Josh Shapiro admitted he had a 'blunt' conversation with RFK Jr.

Josh Shapiro said RFK Jr.'s 'conspiracy theories and misinformation' is harming American citizens.
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro stated during a press conference on Tuesday that he had a “blunt” discussion with the Health Secretary about the current situation.
“His actions and the rhetoric that’s coming from this administration are having a negative impact on communities across America, particularly right here in Pennsylvania,” he said.
“Sharing conspiracy theories and misinformation does not help the cause of public health—and it leaves people less healthy and less safe, and it leaves parents in a position where it’s harder for us to do our jobs to protect our children,” Shapiro added.
