Taylor Swift released 'The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore' on September 25.

According to Healthline, pink clouding — also known as pink cloud syndrome — is a term used in early addiction recovery that describes the feelings of "euphoria and elation."

In the song, Swift apologizes to someone she believes she hurt while she was still carrying the emotional fallout from an earlier relationship. She recalls the beginning of the romance in vivid shades of pink before admitting she "was a liar," suggesting she had not been completely honest about how emotionally ready she was for a new connection.

The Grammy-winning singer hints that the relationship happened during a particularly difficult period in her life, describing a previous partner as someone who "cut me crimson" and "bled me dry." The chorus then sheds light on the meaning behind "Pink Clouding," with Swift confessing she "didn't wanna let you down," so she instead "left you up there on a pink cloud."

The song's bridge turns even more remorseful as Swift acknowledges the person never deserved the way she treated them and admits she still fears she may have "left scars on a good person."

"And I gave you zero reason to believe it / So be it / But it didn't mean nothing / Just 'cause I could leave it," Swift sings.

The track adds, "I hope you landed safely on the ground, hey (Pink cloud, pink cloud) / And I hope you're so happy now (Pink cloud, pink cloud) / I didn't wanna let you down (Pink cloud, pink cloud) / So I left you up there (Pink cloud) / On a pink cloud."
