The View's Sunny Hostin Claps Back At Meghan McCain After She Slams Dr. Fauci For His 'Inconsistent Messaging'
After The View co-host Meghan McCain threw shade at Dr. Fauci for his "inconsistent messaging" regarding the novel coronavirus, Sunny Hostin came to his defense on the Monday, February 22, episode — one day after Dr. Fauci said he couldn't predict when the U.S. will go back to a state of "normalcy."
"Next week will be a year since we left the studio," McCain, 36, said, referring to when production shut down due to the pandemic. "The fact that Dr. Fauci is going on CNN and he can't tell me if I get the vaccine, if I can have dinner with my family…it’s terribly inconsistent messaging."
After calling the COVID-19 vaccine rollout a "disaster," the new mama said she was "over" Dr. Fauci.
"I think we need to have more people giving more opinions," McCain added. "And honestly, quite frankly, I think the [President Joe Biden] Administration should remove him and put someone else in place that maybe does understand science or can talk to other countries about how [the U.S.] can be more like" other countries who have achieved greater success.
Hostin, 52, quickly rebutted McCain's thoughts on Dr. Fauci's messaging and said there was no need to "disparage" him.
"I think that the reason other countries are doing better…with the vaccine is that former, disgraced, twice-impeached, one-term President [Donald] Trump downplayed the science," Hostin said, as she blamed the miscommunication on the prior administration. "He made sure that people didn’t follow the science…he politicized masks. He had these super-spreader events, and because of that, Americans died."

She added: "As Americans, we need to stop disparaging scientists and questioning scientists, and my god, follow the science."
McCain's upset with Dr. Fauci came after he said it's "possible" that American's will still need to wear a mask in 2022 even if the U.S. reaches “a significant degree of normality,” CNN reported.
Social media users have since taken to Twitter to bash McCain after her controversial conversation with Hostin.
"Meghan McCain wants us to replace Dr. Anthony Fauci with someone who 'understands science.' The View is actively participating in making a mockery out of an American hero, all for ratings. Stop pandering to the anti-maskers," one viewer insisted. "Stop pandering to the MAGAs. Fire Meghan McCain. Today."
"Hey @TheView, my offer to replace Meghan McCain still stands. I may be no genius, but I'm a steal at what you're paying her to say this nonsense," another user added as a third wrote: "Meghan McCain is calling for President Biden to fire Dr. Fauci. I’m calling for ABC to fire Meghan McCain."
