New details are coming to light nine months after chef Anne Burrell’s tragic death.
On Tuesday, March 31, photos obtained by an outlet from the New York Police Department revealed what was found inside her home. The images showed Burrell’s bathroom with dozens of pills placed in a dish near the toilet. Several bottles — including Advil, Zyrtec, Motrin and a ValuMeds allergy-relief antihistamine — were also seen lying on the floor.

Police released photos from Anne Burrell’s home.
Another photo captured discarded cigarette butts scattered nearby, along with a lighter.
Newly released clips from that same night also showed Burrell and her husband, Stuart Claxton, arriving home together as they walked through the exterior gate of their Brooklyn apartment complex.
In another video, the couple entered the building lobby, where the Food Network star leaned against a wall while waiting for the elevator. Once inside, she rested her back against the wall and crossed her hands. At one point, she turned her head away from Stuart while he appeared to be speaking to her. She continued to look toward the elevator wall as he gestured, and briefly seemed like she was about to respond before stopping herself.

Pills and medicine bottles were found in the late chef’s bathroom.
In March, reports revealed that the TV chef had written about her struggles in a journal found at the scene. Police also recovered a "suicidal note" nearby, along with “suicidal” journal entries, according to a report.
The Worst Cooks in America host’s journal was discovered on top of the couple’s neatly made bed on the morning of June 17, 2025.

According to the report, in the early hours of June 17, a redacted individual “married to Anne” — believed to be Stuart Claxton — found her on the bathroom floor with “a bunch of over-the-counter pills on the floor.”
Before making the discovery, Stuart reportedly noticed that the bed was made, which he said was unusual. He then tried to wake her by “shaking her and slapping her face,” before calling 911.

Videos showed Anne Burrell arriving home with her husband before her death.
Authorities noted that Stuart told police Burrell had “never attempted suicide in the past,” and had not “talked about it” or shown “any signs that she would do something like this.”
One month after her passing, the medical examiner confirmed she died after ingesting a toxic combination of ethanol, diphenhydramine, cetirizine and amphetamine.
Ethanol is found in alcohol, while diphenhydramine and cetirizine are antihistamines. Amphetamine is commonly used to treat ADHD.
An insider later claimed the Iron Chef America star had been struggling behind the scenes. According to the source, she was unhappy with her career and dealing with anxiety and self-doubt.

The chef died on June 17, 2025.
The source also shared that Burrell had recently described her job as a “competitive cesspool” and was planning to step away from reality television. She had even started taking acting classes and performed in an improv show just hours before her death.
