Insiders close to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt have revealed that President Donald Trump repeatedly called the 28-year-old spokesperson during her maternity leave to ask when she would return to her duties.

According to reporting by the Daily Mail, these persistent inquiries heavily influenced her decision to step down from her high-profile role.

Leavitt announced her resignation on Wednesday, August 12, saying doing her demanding job would not allow her to be “the best mom my two young children deserve.”

Following the public announcement of her departure, details emerged about the behind-the-scenes environment.

Karoline Leavitt reportedly became exhausted with the White House's demanding schedule as a mom-of-two.

Sources state that Leavitt experienced intense exhaustion while trying to balance the West Wing's demanding schedule and caring for her newborn and a toddler.

Insiders told Daily Mail that Leavitt “had been strongly weighing whether to quit during maternity leave, as the president would contact her often and repeatedly ask when she was coming back.”

While Leavitt was away on leave after giving birth on May 1, Trump allegedly maintained regular contact, constantly seeking her return to the podium.

Despite the internal pressure, both Trump and Leavitt exchanged public statements of gratitude, with Trump emphasizing that he "totally understands and respects" her choice to prioritize her family.

'The president did everything he could to keep her,' a source claimed.

“It was a very stressful job to do with her children. She never got any sleep, and she didn’t want her performance to slip either,” a source said, adding, “The president did everything he could to keep her.”

“First week back she realized she wasn’t feeling it anymore,” the source noted. “Trump really didn’t want her to leave as he actually trusts her and doesn’t like having to deal with new people in his circle when he wants to focus on getting stuff done in his time left in office.”

“She was just trying to figure out how to politely step down with his blessing,” another said.

Leavitt is scheduled to officially leave her role as White House Press Secretary at the end of August.
