Jenna Bush Hager endorsed "white lies" to keep the peace in a marriage while weighing in on a couple's relationship dilemma.

Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones welcomed a newlywed couple to a makeshift "relationship court" on their New York City soundstage on the August 14 episode of TODAY With Jenna and Sheinelle.

Married couple Jeremy and Alex brought their relationship issues in front of the anchor duo, stating that Jeremy likes to be "10 to 15 minutes" late to social events, whereas Alex prefers to be right on time.

Jenna Bush Hager endorsed telling 'white lies.'

"Alex, one thing that you'll learn later in marriage is that sometimes white lies can help things," Bush Hager encouraged the wife to fudge the timing of big events just slightly so that the couple could get places on time.

"Have you ever thought to be like, 'We have this dinner, it starts at six,' and really it starts at 6:30?" the mom-of-three asked Alex.

But the show's guest contestant came back with a point that Jenna liked even more than her idea of telling an innocent white lie.

Jenna Bush Hager has been married for more than 15 years and has three children.

"Yes, I have tried that, but I also feel like he's an adult and he's not my child," Alex responded.

Her assessment earned a resounding endorsement from Jenna, who appeared to have some experience with the "manchildren" that Alex was speaking of.

"That's right, that's right, honey," she immediately agreed. "Preach."

Jenna Bush Hager agreed that a husband is not a wife's responsibility.

Ultimately, the women sided with Alex, even giving her permission to allot a little buffer before social events by innocently exaggerating the times at which things started.

"Have fun arriving on time, y'all," Jenna exclaimed.

Jenna is certainly well qualified to dole out relationship advice after more than 15 years of marriage. The anchor has been married to her husband, Henry Hager, since 2008. They first met in 2004 while Henry was working for her father George W. Bush's re-election campaign.

Jenna Bush Hager married Henry Hager in 2008.

She has said that she knew her husband was someone special when she could be "completely herself" around him.

"I do think one of the reasons why I knew really soon Henry was the one is I was completely myself, and he loved it," she said in 2020. The couple shares three children: Mila, 13, Poppy, 11, and Henry, 7.

"Henry is the best," Jenna told TODAY.com in 2025. "He's introduced me to all sorts of things that I love. He was an Eagle Scout, so we go hiking together, we do all these things. But what's cool is we're both interested in growing."
