Jennifer Lopez & Alex Rodriguez Spend Mother's Day Apart As Athlete Loses 'Attention' And 'Fame' After Couple's Split
Despite calling it quits with former baseball star Alex Rodriguez last month, Jennifer Lopez seems to have all the love she needs from her children and mama on Mother's Day.
On Sunday, May 9, J.Lo shared a glimpse of her family's celebrations to Instagram, showing several snaps of her fun-filled day with her 13-year-old twins, daughter Emme Maribel and son Maximilian "Max" David — whom she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony — and her mother, Guadalupe Rodríguez.
"#MothersDay with my mommy and coconuts!" the "Ain't Your Mama" crooner captioned the post.
In a separate post, Lopez paid tribute to her mom by sharing a touching video from her latest JLo Beauty campaign with her, Emme and Guadalupe. "It was my mom who instilled in us at a very young age that we could do anything. This was something that has really stayed with me," Lopez wrote alongside the clip.
"Being a mom is my greatest joy, and today I think about my mommy and all the moms out there. This is your day," she added, "and I hope you are surrounded by love, gratitude and appreciation…enjoy it! #HappyMothersDay #IGotItFromMyMama #MamaGlowsBest."
As for her ex, recently single A-Rod also spent the weekend with daughters Natasha, 16, and Ella, 13 — whom he shares with ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis. Rodriguez shared adorable selfies with his kiddos in face masks on Saturday, May 8, while attending a basketball game at the American Airlines Arena in Miami.

He also honored his mom on Sunday, sharing throwback photos and videos of the two over the years. The athlete admitted via his Instagram caption that "not a day goes by" where he doesn't think about all his mom has done for him.
Rodriguez said he feels the "impact" of his mom on his life everyday before praising her for being the "strongest" woman he's ever known. He explained how she worked two jobs as a single parent so he could "chase [his] dreams."
"Without you, I wouldn't have the life I do," he continued.
Before wishing every mom a Happy Mother's Day, the handsome hunk called his mom a "role model and inspiration," adding that she taught him to "work hard, never give up and always believe."
And while the former Yankees player gushed over his love for his mother, he is most likely mourning the loss of his relationship with his former flame.
As OK! reported, Lopez, 51 and Rodriguez, 45 — who got together in 2017 and engaged two years later — split amid reports Rodriguez had been DM'ing with Southern Charm's Madison LeCroy. The couple confirmed their split on Thursday, April 15, explaining that they are better off as friends.
Meanwhile, OK! learned that A-Rod may be looking for reconciliation, as he wasn't "ready to completely give up" on their relationship. However, it seems unclear whether he wants to get back with Lopez due to his love for her or his love for the spotlight.
"Literally the day after they confirmed the split, Alex’s phone stopped ringing. Yes, he is a superstar athlete and rich and famous in his own right, but the only reason he was getting the attention he was getting was because he was dating Jennifer Lopez," an insider told Straight Shuter.
It looks like Rodriguez lost more than just his relationship, as dating a global superstar came with an overwhelming amount of perks.
“Jennifer catapulted Alex into a new stratosphere of fame. Now that she is gone, so is all the attention that he loved," the source candidly added. "Alex isn’t going to be invited to The Met Ball or Presidential inaugurations without Jen.”
