King Charles III reportedly orchestrated Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's return to the U.K. with their children.
A friend of the monarch said as much to The Daily Beast, noting that the prodigal son was “informally encouraged by King Charles to return to the U.K. because the king believes that the royal family is stronger united.”

King Charles might have been directly involved in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's return to the U.K.
They added that Harry’s crushing defeat in the lawsuit against Daily Mail’s publisher also played a part, as nothing “concrete” would have taken place while the case was ongoing.
They also implied that it seemed “vanishingly unlikely” that the Duke would appeal his defeat in a higher court that had already landed him in $47 million in legal bills.
King Charles III Reportedly Behind Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's U.K. Return

King Charles reportedly assured Prince William and Kate Middleton that they remain 'top priority.'
The 77-year-old King’s friend also told the outlet, “The King’s faith has played a part, but ultimately this is a strategic decision for the good of the family. The stand-off needed to be resolved.”
When asked about whether Prince William approved of their father's strategic plans for the future, the friend cryptically responded that the heir is aware that he and the monarchy remain “top priority” despite Harry's return.

King Charles reportedly urged Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to end feud and return to Britain.
Tom Sykes, the reporter who interviewed the source, also noted that the friend wouldn't remark on any “differences of opinion on specifics” between William and King Charles.
However, they acknowledged that the Prince and Princess of Wales are an asset to the family and the royal institution and the family patriarch is “immensely proud” of the pair.
Source Close to Prince William Refused to Acknowledge Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Return to Britain

Prince William and Kate Middleton seem keen on ignoring Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's U.K. return for the time being.
While the King’s friend openly discussed their views on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's return to Britain and how the King might have reacted to it, a source close to Prince William reportedly refused to discuss the matter.
Per the outlet, their approach to the topic seemed very reminiscent of how the Waleses have behaved themselves on matters concerning their estranged family in the past few years, particularly after Kate Middleton's cancer diagnosis and battle.
Their complete disengagement reportedly has also helped their popularity among the masses over the past year. In any case, it would be interesting to see how that dynamic plays out once Harry and his wife settle back in the U.K., as they reportedly arrived on August 26.

A royal insider stated that despite Prince William and Kate Middleton's personal opinions on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's return, they wouldn't be in Britain without the King's approval.
Sussex's new neighbors are also reportedly intrigued by their arrival as they can't wait to find out “if Meghan really is as ghastly as everyone makes out.”
Another source close to the royal family reportedly told The Royalist, “If the king didn’t want Harry and Meghan here, they wouldn’t be here.”
“Words would have been dropped in the right ears to ostracize them and the newspapers would have been briefed that the king was not on board with it. That is very definitely not happening,” they continued.
“The king clearly wants them to be happy and settle here, and he and his staff are doing nothing to obstruct that. It’s a huge opportunity for Harry and Meghan to start again,” the insider added.
