Martha Stewart questioned Meghan Markle’s transition into the lifestyle space after the Duchess of Sussex launched her Netflix series 'With Love, Meghan.'

Meghan Markle's move into the lifestyle space drew criticism from Martha Stewart, who questioned the Duchess of Sussex's career transition.
"If you're an actress, it's hard to then transition to a princess and then from a princess into a homemaking guru on a television show. It doesn't sort of follow. So go from there," Stewart said during her People cover story published on August 5.
The TV host shared her thoughts while discussing Markle's Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, which marked the former Suits actress' entry into food, entertaining, and home content.

Stewart also revealed that she recently crossed paths with Markle.
"We were both guests at a dinner party in California," Stewart said.
She continued, "And she had just gotten back from the palace. I didn't talk to her really more than to say a couple words, but I know she was talking about it."

Months before her latest comments, Stewart spoke about Markle's move into the lifestyle space.
"Meghan I don’t really know very well, and I hope she knows what she’s talking about," the Martha & Snoop's Potluck Dinner Party alum told Yahoo Lifestyle in July 2025.
Stewart went on to share why credibility mattered to her when creating such content.
"Authenticity, to me, is everything, and to be authentic and knowledgeable about your subject matter is extremely important," she said.
Stewart also said she did not "mind" the idea of others following in her footsteps and wished them "good luck" as they built their own place in the industry.
