Fashion forward! Kelly Clarkson is kicking off 2021 with a head-to-toe makeover, and sparing no expense, an insider tells OK!
"She was tired of seeing the same old face and person in the mirror and felt she needed a boost,” spills the insider. Now that Clarkson, 38, has put her divorce from her manager husband of seven years, Brandon Blackstock, 44, behind her — and won a nasty custody battle — the Voice coach “is saying goodbye to a lot of those dowdier outfits," shares the insider, explaining that she’s going for "an edgier, sleek and sexy look," both on and off-camera.
"It won’t be anything over-the-top, but she’s ditching the jeans, sweats, and long-sleeved shirts and splurging on clothes that let her flash a little flesh and show off her curves. She figures it's well overdue."

Last year was tough for Kelly, who also got caught up in a lawsuit with her former father-in-law, so "playing around with her look is a welcome distraction," the insider adds.
It seems the singer is finally turning a corner after struggling with the divorce and aftermath. This past September, she called her year "a dumpster fire," admitting she didn't see the breakup coming.

"What I'm dealing with is hard because it involves more than just my heart. It involves a lot of little hearts," she explained at the end of 2020, noting that the split also effects her and Blackstock's children, River Rose, 6, and Remington Alexander, 4.

"The hardest for me is the kids. That’s the hardest part for me… I think as women we are trained — Alicia Keys and I were talking earlier — to take it all on and you can deal with it and you’re fine, but it’s your babies that you worry about."
The American Idol alum has always been open with her fans about her personal life, often sharing stories on her talk show, which was renewed for two more seasons and will air at least through 2023.
