Reba McEntire Rescued From Dilapidated Building After Stairwell Collapsed, Trapping Her Inside: 'It Was Pretty Scary'

The 66-year-old year old music icon had to be rescued from a building after it partially collapsed in Atoka, OK.
The “Fancy” songstress was touring an old building — believed to be at least 100 years old — with a pal, Coby Scherrill, for a future project when the terrifying incident happened.
“We were just touring the building and the stairwell was weak. It seemed weak, but we did not realize how weak it was until several people had gone down it and then we heard the crash and saw the stairs fall,” Scherrill told News12. The outlet captured video of her rescue.
He added: “It was pretty scary, I was worried about who was downstairs and how bad it was.”
Emergency Management Director Travis Mullins detailed the ancient stairwell leading from the second story to the third collapsed, trapping everyone who was inside on whatever floor they were on.

Firefighters had to escort people out of the second-story window and down the ladder to safety.
“It opened our eyes to see exactly just how unsturdy they [stairs] was and when they did collapse we see what little was holding them up,” Mullins said, adding he was relieved when he found out McEntire was unharmed.
One person in her entourage was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
It's likely McEntire’s beau Rex Linn was concerned, as OK! recently learned the lovebirds are itching to take their relationship to the next level.
