President Donald Trump addressed long-running rumors about his hair during a speech at the White House Rose Garden, stating, "For years I had to suffer with people saying, 'He wears a wig.' I don't wear a wig."

The clarification followed a wave of online speculation about his coif sparked by a viral video from an August campaign event in Las Vegas.

During that appearance, Trump was promoting tax cuts. Still, onlookers noticed that his hair appeared unusually full, prompting widespread commentary on social media.

To defend the authenticity of his hair, Trump shared a story about a previous outdoor rally held in highly windy, late-winter conditions. He argued that if he had been wearing a hairpiece that night, the heavy gusts would have blown it right off his head. According to Trump, the fact that his hair stayed intact proved it was completely natural.

While the 80-year-old president maintains his hair is entirely real, critics and biographers have pointed out that his signature "lion's mane" is likely the result of an intricate styling process rather than a wig.

“It’s not a wig, it’s a 40-year-old cover-up with bangs,” quipped one X commenter.

“Quiet, Wiggy,” posted another in a nod to his offensive “quiet, piggy” comment to a female journalist.

In the past, family members and biographers like Michael Wolff have described Trump's look as an elaborate comb-over secured with heavy styling spray.

Hair professionals attribute his changing appearance to variations in grooming products, styling techniques, lighting and camera angles rather than to a toupee.

The elderly president’s late ex-wife, Ivana Trump, claimed he underwent scalp reduction surgery, rather than a standard hair transplant, to treat his hair loss.

The details first came to light in a sworn divorce deposition given by Ivana during their 1990 divorce proceedings. The deposition was later publicized in the 1993 biography Lost Tycoon: The Many Lives of Donald J. Trump by Harry Hurt III.

Ivana stated that in 1989, Donald visited her personal plastic surgeon, Dr. Steven Hoefflin, to undergo scalp reduction surgery. This aggressive, largely outdated procedure involves removing the bald patch on the crown of the head and stretching the hair-bearing skin to cover the gap.

According to the deposition, the recovery was intensely painful, leaving the president with severe headaches.

Ivana alleged that an infuriated Donald confronted her, blaming her for recommending the doctor, and launched into a violent assault in which he pulled out fistfuls of her hair.
