Minka Kelly and Dan Reynolds' Relationship Timeline: From Dating Rumors to Red Carpet Debut and More

Minka Kelly and Dan Reynolds' relationship is going strong.

The couple began dating in 2022 after Reynolds was introduced to Kelly by a mutual friend following his divorce from Aja Volkman. The Imagine Dragons frontman said they began talking by phone and exchanged their work as Kelly wrote her memoir, Tell Me Everything, and Reynolds worked on his album Loom.

"I think it helped us both kind of understand each other on a deeper level quickly," he told People in July 2024. "It was a really strange and awesome way to meet someone because I was hearing all her life stories from youth to now, and she had a really hard, colorful, beautiful life. Getting to read it all before you even meet somebody."

Reynolds also gushed that he had never experienced that "kind of introduction to someone" before.

Kelly and Reynolds first fueled dating rumors in November 2022 after they were spotted dining at Café Stella in Los Angeles and later leaving together in a black SUV.

They were photographed holding hands a few days after the five-hour-long dinner date.

In December 2022, a source told Us Weekly that Kelly and Reynolds were "going great" and "both incredibly happy" despite being in the "early days" of dating.

"Being back on the singles' scene after long relationships has been a challenging adjustment for each of them, so they're taking their time and easing into it as opposed to running before they can walk, so to speak, said the insider. "But so far, so good, and they're having fun, getting along great."

Kelly and Reynolds appeared to take their relationship to the next level when they attended the Super Bowl together in February 2024, more than a year after they began dating.

They were also present at a soccer match for the U.S. Women's National Team in Carson, Calif., that same month.

Kelly and Reynolds continued to put their romance on display as they attended UFC 303 together at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on June 29, 2024.

Amid their blossoming romance, the singer-songwriter revealed the 500 Days of Summer actress had become friends with his four children: Arrow, Valentine, Gia and Coco.

"The kids really love Minka and really love their mom, and that's okay. We view it as kind of bonuses to the family: more people to love, more people to help," he shared with People in a July 2024 interview. "We've just been really careful with that and slow with navigating how to bring Minka in to that conversation."

Reynolds added, "She's done a really incredible job of being sensitive and careful on her end as well."

Minka made her relationship with Reynolds Instagram official by including a photo of the couple in a carousel, showing them sitting closely together with their backs to the camera.

"thankyouthankyouthankyouiloveyou 💫," she captioned the photoset.

In the months after going Instagram official, Kelly and Reynolds continued to step out together, attending a special screening of Gladiator II in October 2024, enjoying a casual outing in February 2025 and grabbing coffee together the following month.

Then, in April 2025, Reynolds made a guest appearance on Kelly's Netflix show, Ransom Canyon.

"He came to visit and everyone, all the producers and writers, just naturally fell in love with him," she said in an interview. "It's easy to love Dan."

The Friday Night Lights alum marked Reynolds' 38th birthday with a heartfelt Instagram post on July 14, 2025.

"This beautiful man has healed wounds in me he did not inflict - simply by being himself. By embodying true masculinity. The kind that is vulnerable, honest and loving," Kelly began the post.

She continued, "I thought I knew kindness. Love. Patience. Generosity. Care. I thought I knew how to be gentle. And then I met him."

Kelly praised Reynolds for the way he fathers and loves his children, as well as for "honoring and respecting their beautiful mother." She also celebrated his benevolence, values and honesty, before sharing that those around him feel "safe and at ease in his orbit."

"Thank you for loving me," she wrote. "Thank you for blessing my life in ways I never thought possible — but always dreamed of."

"I love you, Dan. Happiest birthday to you. Now let's dance!" she concluded her message.

During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, Kelly confirmed she had finished her memoir before she and Reynolds ever met in person.

"We had been FaceTiming and talking and texting before we met, because I was out of the country working…and he was like, 'I want to read it,'" she said. "So I was like, 'Well, OK, well, here you go. You'll either be terrified and run for the hills, or you'll see the beauty in all of it.'"

Kelly and Reynolds made their red carpet debut as a couple at the 2026 Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) Gala in Los Angeles on May 30.

They also attended a screening of Fast Times Ridgemont High at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in June.

The Charlie's Angels actress joined Reynolds and his kids for a Disneyland outing and shared photos from the trip on July 9.

"No place I'd rather be 💗," she wrote.

Kelly celebrated Reynolds' birthday a few days later in a separate Instagram post with the caption, "Thank you for making ordinary days feel extraordinary, for making me laugh until I can't breathe, and for loving so deeply and so freely. Celebrating you is one of my favorite things to do. I love you, Dan. Happy birthday. ♥️."
