The cohosts engaged in a debate about Republican representative Marjorie Taylor Greene's comments comparing the treatment of people who don't want to wear masks anymore to the treatment of the Jewish people in the Holocaust. After McCain shared her blatant distaste towards Greene, she shifted the conversation to the recent spike in antisemitic attacks against Jewish people in the U.S.
And as the only conservative co-host continued to get more fired up about the matter, Goldberg tried cutting to commercial break, which infuriated McCain and led them both to lash out at each other. Watch the clip below.
McCain first insisted Republicans have done more to strip Greene of her power than the Democrats did after Ilhan Omar criticized Israel, saying the country is "hypnotizing" the world. She also questioned why this is a Hot Topic discussion this week when the increased rate of hate crimes against Jewish people began earlier this month.
“This was all happening last week," she said after listing multiple reported crimes, "and I would love if the energy that is being put on one crazy woman in Congress — and by the way, if [Greene] is the face of the Republicans, then The Squad is the face of the Democrats — I would love Democrats to put that same type of energy onto what’s happening on the left, because quite frankly, this is how people get red-pilled."
She slammed the “blatant bias in the media" that only focuses on the mistakes made by Republicans rather than both sides before insisting: “Antisemitism is a huge problem everywhere in this country."
Goldberg agreed with her cohost, responding "Yes, it is," as she tried to make it clear that she was cutting to a commercial break. However, McCain wasn't done sharing her thoughts.
"We’re going to break and when we come back you can continue talking," Goldberg interjected, "but now we’re going to break, so we’ll be right back."
After Goldberg abruptly ended McCain's rant, the 36-year-old shouted over her: "Why are you cutting me off?" which led Goldberg to snap back. "I’m cutting you off cause we have to go, Meghan! Why do you think I’m cutting you off?" the obviously heated host replied.
When the show returned from the commercial break, McCain finished her sentiment before the two exchanged a few more heated words over Omar. Goldberg insisted she was in fact called out for her past controversial remarks, which McCain didn't agree with.
