Travis Barker said he did not want to go to South Carolina before his plane crash.

The Blink-182 drummer had made a commitment to travel to South Carolina with his friend DJ AM to play with Gavin DeGraw and Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell.

However, at the last moment he did not feel like going.

He explained the same during the podcast appearance, saying, “I’d said to my manager, ‘Is it too late to just pull out? I don’t really need to do this.’”

“I was just so content with being home with the kiddos, and he’s like, ‘Bro, you can’t cancel this late.’ So, I ended up flying out there,” he added.

Travis also revealed that his daughter had an out-of-character reaction to him leaving at the time.

“I say bye to Bama. She’s young at the time,” he recalled. “She’s like, ‘Dad, don’t go!’ She’s bawling and she doesn’t usually do that. She’s like, ‘The roof’s gonna come off,’ and I’m like, ‘What is she talking about?’”

Brushing off her warning as a toddler's babble, he traveled to South Carolina to fulfill his commitment.

Travis Barker recounted his near-fatal plane crash.

The Meet the Barkers alum stated, “I get there, play our show, and then we’re supposed to leave the next morning.”

“But everyone else that was with me was in a hurry to get home. So, we booked a private plane, super last minute,” he continued.

Travis explained that usually he is very cautious about booking a plane and makes sure to ask questions about its pilots, maintenance status, etc. However, none of it mattered in the end.

He remembered getting to the airport around midnight with just “one plane in the distance that’s really small” standing there in the “foggy” night.

“I had an awful feeling,” he admitted, before revealing that he even called his father, Randy Barker, to talk through the unease he was feeling at the time.

Travis Barker said he felt 'off' before getting on the plane.

“My dad was like, ‘You’re gonna be fine. Just get on the plane. Call me when you get home,’” he said.

Travis was adamant that something felt “off” and urged his dad, “If something happens to me, please make sure the kids are taken care of.”

The plane crashed on their way back, with the drummer’s assistant, Chris Baker, and security guard, Charles Still Jr., dying in the accident that also took the lives of the two pilots who were flying the plane.

While Travis and DJ AM survived the crash, the superstar had to spend six months in the burn ward as 70 percent of his body was burned and he needed around 30 surgeries, per AP News.

“Older me would just say, ‘I think I’m not going to get on the plane,’” he reflected on the podcast.

“Everything was there and I’d never felt like that before,” he said.

Following the tragedy, he couldn't fly on a plane for years due to PTSD until he finally overcame his fear in 2021 after he started to date his now-wife.

Meanwhile, DJ AM passed away just a year later from a drug overdose at the age of 36.
