Barker, 50, explained that the rule applied even to minor misunderstandings between the couple.
"[We] try to resolve, even if it’s just like, 'Hey, I thought you were going to meet me for lunch, and you didn’t text me back right away, so I didn’t know if we were meeting for lunch,'" he said.

"Even if it’s just as simple as, like, 'Oh babe, I take accountability. I’m sorry. I didn’t see your text right away.' Just resolving anything so you don’t go to bed not feeling connected is really important," Barker added.

Travis Barker reflected on his life and career in the documentary 'Louder Than Fear.'
Barker is set to share more about his life and career in his upcoming documentary, Louder Than Fear. Directed by Justin Krook and Michael Dwyer, the 99-minute film was set to premiere on August 13 on Hulu and Disney+.
The documentary chronicled Barker’s rise to fame and the challenges he faced, including the aftermath of his 2008 private plane crash. It also featured interviews with his loved ones and others from the music industry.
According to People, sparks were spotted near the plane’s wheels as it traveled down the runway. Air-traffic controllers and a witness on the ground noticed the unusual activity before the aircraft reached the end of the runway.
"I thought they blew a tire and were coming in," airport maintenance technician Nate Bozeman told People at the time.
He continued, "But then it got close to the end of the runway and didn't stop."
