Even though Matt James never appeared on the Bachelor franchise before, he was already a familiar face since he was constantly photographed with season 15 Bachelorette contestant Tyler Cameron, who is his bestie.

The two became roommates in New York City, and soon enough, fans learned that James, 29, and Cameron, 28, were attached at the hip. So much so, their nickname became #Myler.

On the Monday, February 8, episode of the ABC show, Cameron will make an appearance. The real estate agent takes Katie Thurston to a spa, but in reality, the duo prank Cameron while he is getting a massage

"One of my best friends happens to be here today, Tyler C. — he was on Hannah Brown's season," James tells Thurston. "He's here for what he thinks is going to be a nice hour-long massage, but me and you are going to be in the ear of the actor who we hired, who is his masseuse today."

So, how exactly did James and Cameron become friends in the first place? Well, the studs met while playing football at Wake Forest University — James was on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons from 2011-14, while Cameron graduated in 2015.

From then on, the two came up with the idea for ABC Food Tours in New York City, a non-profit that gives underprivileged kids a chance to try new restaurants in their communities.

“One of the cool things our athletic department did was invite students from the community on campus to eat with the athletes,” James revealed. “Winston-Salem has a very large wealth divide and a lot of those students are underserved and under-recognized — and it was just this organic interaction that wasn’t supervised like, ‘Alright, you’re going to meet with Johnny for 30 minutes and go over homework.’”

James and Cameron’s bond has only gotten stronger over time, and the two even quarantined together amid the ongoing pandemic in March 2020 — shortly after Cameron’s mom, Andrea, suddenly died from a brain aneurysm.

In fact, James revealed that Andrea was the reason he applied to find love on the series in the first place.

"I wouldn't have gone on the show if it hadn't been for Tyler's mom," James — who was originally supposed to compete for Clare Crawley’s heart but was later asked to be the Bachelor — said.

"She was so adamant about me having been a part of this experience because she saw what it did for Tyler and his relationship with Hannah [Brown].... I felt like I owed it to her to see it through," he added.
