But there were also some unforgettable — and bizarre — moments. Who could forget Britney Spears' conservatorship battle? Or the time Demi Lovato got engaged and then unengaged? Or the fact that Keeping Up With the Kardashians is coming to an end?

Kobe and Gianna Bryant Died In A Helicopter Crash
Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, died in a helicopter crash on January 26 in Calabasas, Calif. All nine people on board were killed on impact and Bryant’s wife, Vanessa, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Island Express Helicopters in February and said in a statement that she wished "they were here with us forever."
Alex Trebek
Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek passed away in November at 80 years old after a long battle with stage four pancreatic cancer. He wrote in his memoir that he wanted to spend his final day at home with his wife, Jean, which is exactly what he got.
Chadwick Boseman
Actor Chadwick Boseman died in August at 43 years old after he was diagnosed with stage three colon cancer in 2016. However, he continued to work on films such as Black Panther while he battled the illness in private.
Naya Rivera
Glee star Naya Rivera disappeared during a lake trip to Lake Piru in Southern California with her 4-year-old son, Josey. Rivera was reported missing when Josey was found alone on the boat. She was found dead several days later.

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend lost their third child due to pregnancy complications in September. Teigen was extremely candid about her loss and wrote that the upsetting photos she shared from the hospital are for "the people who have lived this or are curious enough to wonder what something like this is like. These photos are only for the people who need them."
Nick Cordero’s Tragic Death
Broadway actor Nick Cordero passed away in July from COVID-19 and left behind his wife, Amanda Kloots, and their newborn son, Elvis.
Bobby Brown Jr. Found Dead
Singer Bobby Brown faced another family tragedy when his son Bobby Brown Jr. was found dead in his L.A. home. He was 28 years old.
Family friend Nick Gordon — who was found liable for the death of Brown's daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown — died of an overdose in January.
Eddie Van Halen Died From Cancer
Van Halen guitarist Eddie Van Halen passed away in October from throat cancer. The musician was 65 and had previously battled tongue cancer, which he believed was a result of holding metal guitar picks in his mouth at concerts.
Meghan Markle’s Miscarriage
In November, Meghan Markle wrote in a heartbreaking op-ed for The New York Times that she suffered a miscarriage in July. The Duchess wrote that she knew as she "clutched my firstborn child Archie that I was losing my second.”
Archie Lyndhurst’s Sudden Death
Actor Archie Lyndhurst died in October at only 19 years old after a battle with a short illness. The teen was best known for his role on So Awkward.
