'Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom' premiered on Netflix on March 31.
Lamar Odom finally brought to light the buried stories of his life in a new Netflix documentary.
On March 31, the retired basketball player's documentary, Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom, premiered on the streaming giant as part of its Untold series. The documentary examined his addiction and untold truths, including his past marriage to Khloé Kardashian.
Odom and Kardashian tied the knot in a star-studded Beverly Hills wedding on September 27, 2009, just nine days after they got engaged. Although he notified his family about the marriage, many of them thought the union wasn't real.
"I really thought he was joking," Odom's first wife, Liza Morales, said in the documentary.
His aunt Janean Mercer shared, "I said, 'My God, come on now. That's too soon.' I said, 'Things like that don't work out.'"
Mercer added that she and other members of the family were not invited to the nuptials.
"He didn't invite none of us, you know. None of us," she stressed.
The Real Reason Lamar Odom Married Khloé Kardashian

The new documentary is part of the 'Untold' series on Netflix.
Odom's childhood friend Anthony "Pumpkin" Booker appeared in the documentary, where he claimed the former athlete "was doing it [marrying Kardashian] to try to better his future" since the Kardashians "know people" and "have mad connections."
The former power forward confirmed his motive, noting, "I'm watching how she lives and their lifestyle. I'm like, 'This is how I want to live.'"
"I think that was like a power trip for me, 'cause you took the power I had [as an NBA player], and then Kardashian power. When you add 'em…" said Odom, though he later admitted he "was not really ready for all that power."
Destiny Odom, Lamar's daughter with Liza, said, "He did love Khloé… but, he had wanted to be on reality TV for a long time."
Khloé Kardashian Did Not Want to Film 'Khloé & Lamar'

Lamar Odom and Khloé Kardashian met at a party in 2009.
As Lamar had been eager to break into reality TV for years, he reportedly spearheaded his and Khloé's reality show, Khloé & Lamar.
"I was spread really thin. I also didn't really want it to jeopardize the family brand … I thought there was so many Kardashian shows," the Good American co-founder confessed. "But I also wanted to do what made him happy, and he was so excited about it."
Lamar also shared, "Someone was a genius. Reality TV, whoever brought that up… Trickery. Foolery."
Lamar Odom Cheated on Khloé Kardashian During Their Marriage

Lamar Odom's 'Untold' documentary also explored his past marriage to Khloé Kardashian.
Netflix's Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom also unpacked Lamar's infidelity during his marriage to Khloé.
"What the f--- would make you think you marry this woman on TV and then go have affairs?" he criticized himself on-screen for cheating on his ex-wife.
Lamar shared an incident when he was "high out of my f------ mind" and the unnamed woman he was cheating on Khloé with took his phone and called the mom-of-two.
The Keeping Up With the Kardashians alum recalled the woman telling her, "I've been f------ your husband."
The mistress was said to be shaken by how heavily Lamar was using drugs. As a result, she called Khloé and asked her to come get him.
Khloé Kardashian Said She Was 'Such an Enabler'

Lamar Odom and Khloé Kardashian were married for seven years.
Elsewhere in the documentary, Khloé opened up about Lamar's addiction struggles and her efforts to keep it private.
"I was either looking for him in alleys, looking for him in motels," she recalled. "He would have tinfoil cutouts or spoons, and freebasing things, and leaving things everywhere. I remember needing to go to hotel rooms to clean up after him, so the housekeeping didn't sell a story."
The Kardashians star said she "was such an enabler without knowing I was an enabler."
"But I just felt such a responsibility to cover this up, hold it together and protect him," she added.
As she kept all those secrets, Khloé reportedly felt "horrible" about herself.

"We get to the hospital. His dad was there. I assume, [he] thought, he's now the beneficiary to Lamar," Khloé recalled. "And Joe just said, 'Don't put him on life support. Turn those machines off.' And I remember walking in around that time, and I kid you not, it was a scene out of a movie."
She shared in the documentary, "I'm like, 'Sorry, Joe, I'm still his wife. What do you need?' And Joe wanted a pair of Nikes and $100, and a hotel room for the night. And Joe left, and never came back."

But one day, she caught Lamar "sitting on the edge of the bed, smoking crack."
"I just punched him in his face," she said in the documentary.
"'I just put my life on hold to f------ take care of you,'" she angrily recalled telling Lamar. "He was better than I knew. He was playing me, so I could continue this lifestyle for him."
Khloé then instructed Lamar he had a few days to leave the house, adding, "I'm done, I'm not paying for a thing and I never want to speak to you again."

They had two divorce filings.
When Khloé gave Lamar an ultimatum during an intervention, Lamar reportedly decided that they would get a divorce.
"I was advised to do this intervention, and the interventionist said, 'You're gonna go in there and tell him, 'You need to go to rehab, and if you don't stay for a three-month program,' you're gonna say you're getting a divorce,'" Khloé recalled. "Everyone around me was like, 'He'll never say he wants the divorce.' We do the intervention."
She continued, "I give my speech. And he was like, 'Okay, all I want is my passport, and yeah, let's get the f------ divorce. I was like, looking around like, 'Wait. Wait. I … I don't want the divorce. You guys told me I have to say this.' Lamar left immediately, was like, 'We're getting the f------ divorce, and I'm never coming back here again.'"
Khloé initially withdrew the first petition she filed in 2015, before Lamar's overdose. She filed for divorce again afterward, which was finalized in December 2016.
