Battlestar Galactica actor Harry Johnson died of an undisclosed long illness on January 2 at the age of 81, his wife, Christiane, confirmed in a statement to Deadline. His representative, Johnathan Erickson, also confirmed the loss to The Hollywood Reporter.

"With a career spanning over 40 years, Harry was a true talent and cherished member of the community. His impact on the entertainment industry will be remembered and celebrated," ATB Talent Agency penned. "Our hearts go out to his friends and family, including Christiane, his wife of 15 years and stepchildren, Oliver and Penelope. May his memory be a blessing to all."

Johnson also notably starred in several hit TV shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Law & Order, The Incredible Hulk and Days of Our Lives.

Speed Racer actor Christian Oliver and his two daughters, whom he shares with his wife, Jessica Klesper, were killed in a tragic plane crash on January 4. The pilot and plane owner, Robert Sachs, was also killed in the accident.

According to the authorities, the aircraft crashed into the Caribbean Sea while traveling to St. Lucia. It reportedly experienced "difficulties and plummeted into the ocean" a few moments after the takeoff.

Responders rushed to the scene after the crash, and the divers recovered the bodies before transferring them to Saint Vincent. Post-mortem examinations were done to determine the exact causes of death.

Following the loss, Klesper issued an emotional social media statement and expressed her grief.

"Once he turned around, he saw what was happening and he put his coworker behind him. And that’s when they shot him," Grant said of Johnny's final moments.

The coroner's report obtained by also divulged that Johnny died by homicide, and his manner of death was a gunshot wound to the chest.

On the other hand, the Los Angeles Police Department sought the public to help them trace the three suspects. Joseph Iniguez, the Los Angeles County DA's chief deputy, revealed in the latest news conference that they are working with the LAPD in the "very active" investigation."

Hawaii Five-0 actor Taylor Wily died on June 20 at the age of 56, the series' executive producer Peter Lenkov confirmed the news to The Associated Press.

Lenkov also shared several tributes online to honor his "brother."

"T, as I told you many times, I fell in love with you at the first audition," Lenkov captioned a video montage. "You came in with a towel on your head mopping up sweat, and I was smitten. You charmed me into making you a regular… on the show… and in my life. You were family. And I will miss you every day, brother."

Wily's manager, Michael Henderson, told USA Today that Wily passed away due to "natural causes."

Shifty Shellshock

Crazy Town frontman Shifty Shellshock was found dead at his residence on June 24, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's website reported. The cause has not yet been disclosed.

The vocalist, born Seth Brooks Binzer, was 49.

On June 25, famed actor Bill Cobbs, who starred in hit films like The Bodyguard and Night at the Museum, died "peacefully at his home in California." One of his family members delivered the news via Facebook.

"A beloved partner, big brother, uncle, surrogate parent, godfather and friend, Bill recently and happily celebrated his 90th birthday surrounded by cherished loved ones," his family wrote in the message. "As a family we are comforted knowing Bill has found peace and eternal rest with his Heavenly Father. We ask for your prayers and encouragement during this time."

"Solid American" hitmaker Kinky Friedman died in his sleep on June 27 at the age of 79.

The country singer-songwriter's official X page shared the news about his death, writing, "Kinky Friedman stepped on a rainbow at his beloved Echo Hill surrounded by family & friends. Kinkster endured tremendous pain & unthinkable loss in recent years but he never lost his fighting spirit and quick wit. Kinky will live on as his books are read and his songs are sung."

Friedman's close friend Larry Sloman told The New York Times that the cause of death was complications of Parkinson's disease.

Martin Mull, the comic actor who notably appeared on hit shows like Roseanne and Clue, passed away on June 27. He was 80.

His daughter, Maggie Mull, wrote a statement on Instagram to confirm her father's death after his "valiant fight against a long illness."

"He was known for excelling at every creative discipline imaginable and also for doing Red Roof Inn commercials. He would find that joke funny. He was never not funny," said Maggie. "My dad will be deeply missed by his wife and daughter, by his friends and coworkers, by fellow artists and comedians and musicians, and — the sign of a truly exceptional person — by many, many dogs. I loved him tremendously."

Shelley Duvall, the award-winning actress who notably appeared in The Shining, died at the age of 75 on July 11.

Her spokesperson, Gary Springer, told The Hollywood Reporter that the star died in her sleep at her Blanco, Texas, home due to complications from diabetes. Meanwhile, Duvall's life partner, Dan Gilroy, confirmed the passing of his "dear, sweet, wonderful life partner and friend."

Richard Simmons

Fitness personality and TV host Richard Simmons died on July 13, a day after marking his 76th birthday.

His longtime publicist Tom Estey confirmed the loss in a statement, revealing they "lost an Angel today – a true Angel."

Simmons' brother, Lenny Simmons, issued a separate tribute message to CNN to remember his sibling's contribution to the industry.

“I don’t want people to be sad about my brother. I want them to remember him for the genuine joy and love he brought to people’s lives,” said Lenny. “He truly cared about people. He called, wrote, and emailed thousands of people throughout his career to offer help. So don’t be sad. Celebrate his life.”

A Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson disclosed they conducted a death investigation at a place in the Hollywood Hills, which was later confirmed to be a house owned by Richard and his family.

No cause of death was given, but Richard's death came after he confirmed his skin cancer diagnosis in March.

Shannen Doherty

Beverly Hills, 90210 star Shannen Doherty died on July 13 after her lengthy battle with cancer, her publicist Leslie Sloane confirmed. She was 53.

"The devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend was surrounded by her loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie. The family asks for their privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace," Sloane continued.

Doherty was first diagnosed with b----- cancer in 2015. She battled the dreaded illness for two years before going into remission. However, her cancer returned in 2019 and progressed into a metastatic stage 4 cancer in 2020.

In June 2023, Doherty said the cancer spread to her brain and pushed her to undergo surgery.

"It's going to come out in a matter of days or a week that I'm stage 4. So my cancer came back, and that's why I'm here," Doherty said on Good Morning America. "I don't think I've processed it. It's a bitter pill to swallow in a lot of ways."

Prior to her death, she appeared in her last podcast interview where she expressed her hope and positivity ahead of her next chemotherapy treatment.

Jacoby Jones

On July 14, former Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Jacoby Jones passed away. He was 40.

His family did not disclose his cause of death, but they noted he died "peacefully" at his New Orleans home.

"The family, including his mother, Emily and his son, Little Jacoby, are together and are asking for prayers, privacy, and support as they navigate through this difficult time," the statement read.
